ரிஷிகேஷிலிருந்து கோவிந்த் காட் செல்லும் முதன்மை (main) சாலை அகலமான NH 7. அது கங்கை நதியின் மூல நதியில் ஒன்றான அலகானந்தாவை இணைபிரியாமல் அது தோன்றுமிடமான பத்ரிநாத் ( கோவிந்த் காட் டிலிருந்து இன்னும் மேலே செல்ல வேண்டும்) வரை நீள்கிறது. வழியில் கிளை நதிகள் அலகானந்தாவில் சேரும் ஐந்து முக்கியமான இடங்கள் உள்ளன. விஷ்ணு ப்ரயாகில்- டெளலி கங்கா நந்தா ப்ர யாகில்- நந்தாகினி கர்ன ப்ரயாகில் - பிண்டார் ருத்ர ப்ரயாகில் - மந்தாகினி இறுதியில் தேவ் ப்ரயாகில் பாகிரதி நதியுடன் இணைந்து அலகானந்தா கங்கையாகிறது. அந்த முதன்மை வழியில்தான் நிலச்சரிவு ஏற்பட்டிருந்தது. பயணத்தின்போது ஏற்படும் இதுபோன்ற எதிர்பாராத சிறு தடங்கல்கள் அப்போதைக்கு மன வருத்தத்தை அளித்தாலும், பின்பு யோசிக்கும் போது பயணக்கதைக்கு அவை மேலும் சுவை சேர்ப்பவையாகவே உள்ளன. உண்மையை சொல்லப்போனால் நிலச்சரிவு நாங்கள் எதிப்பார்க்காத ஒன்றல்ல.குறிப்பாக மழைக்காலங்களில் இது ஒரு சாதாரணமான நிகழ்வு. இமய மலையின் நில அமைப்பு அப்படி. அதற்க்கு காரணங்கள் பல. அருகில் டாக்ஸி ஓட்டுனர்கள் ஒன்றாகக்கூடி விவாதித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அதிலிருந்து, இன்னொரு ( வடக்கு நோக்கி தெஹ்ர...

  Valley of flowers( VOF) trek பயண யோசனை சட்டென்று உருவானது - பெரிதாக திட்டமிடல் எதுவும் இல்லாமலேயே. விநாயக சதுர்த்திக்கு சில நாட்கள் நாக்பூர் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று பிராஞ்சலி சொல்லிய மறு வினாடியே மனதில் தோன்றியது. VOF என்னுடைய பக்கெட் லிஸ்ட்டில் இருந்திருந்தாலும் - அங்கு செல்ல இவ்வளவு சீக்கிரம் முடிவெடுத்தது ஆச்சரியமாகவே இருந்தது. அதற்க்கு சமீபத்தில் படித்த  உத்தராகண்ட்டின் மலைகளில் அலைந்து திரியும் - “ மைத்ரி “ நாவல் ஒரு முக்கியமான உந்துதலாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். முதலில், அந்த நாவலில் வருவது போலவே தனியனாக செல்லத்தான் யோசித்தேன் - துணைக்கு மைத்ரி கிடைப்பாள் என்ற நப்பாசையாலோ என்னவோ. இருந்தாலும் கேட்டு பார்ப்போமே என்று பயண விவரத்தை செயலற்று- இறக்கும் தருவாயில் - கிடக்கும் ZNMD க்ரூப்பில் பகிர்ந்தேன். இந்த மாதிரி பயணங்களில் அன்று தொடங்கி இன்று வரை Goa சென்ற அந்த நான்கு bikomaniacs மட்டுமே ஆர்வமுள்ளவர்களாக இருப்பதில் ஆச்சரியம் ஏதுமில்லை. புதிதாக கிளம்பியுள்ள இன்னொருவன் கதிர். அவன் அதே சமயத்தில் லே, லடாக் செல்லும் உற்சாகத்தில் இருந்தான். சங்கரும் கார்த்தியும் வர முடியாத சூழல். அர்வ...

Bike trips are highly addictive. Once tasted it makes “metal box journeys “ less enjoyable. You start longing for another trip immediately after finishing one. Horse riding and flying on the back of a tigress are, may be, a few other comparable modes to motor bike riding. 3rd June, 2017 - 6th day Waking up in the morning knowing not to go to work ignites an excitement. In stead of being caught up in the web of concrete jungle traffic , free on a motorbike - close to the nature,adds to the joy. Every cell in our body craves for newness. When we provide that - in abundance- to our senses, celebration begins. Mountain Roads After crossing Punakha , by seeing road conditions,we were prepared for an adventurous ride. Interiors of Bhutan is an ideal place to study and get a “doctorate in bad roads”. We saw all kinds of roads - dusty, slippery,full of potholes, gravel ridden , a foot deep mud, stream flowing across, part of the road landslide into the valley... ...

Going for a long bike trip is like doing meditation. It is a pilgrimage. You are all alone and free, with a companion who does not disturb you, for more than 10 hours a day. A boon to have. You get a chance to see your life - clearly from distance and understand it better. Life changing ideas, thoughts appear spontaneously. We lock up ourselves to a tiny part of heaven, gifted to us by God; live almost our entire lifetime within a few kilometres radius. Like circus animals, keep doing same things again and again and again and die.  What a pity! Unfortunately we fail to realise this.
