"On the road again - Just can't wait to get on the road again. The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again. On the road again Goin' places that I've never been. Seein' things that I may never see again And I can't wait to get on the road again. On the road again - Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway We're the best of friends. Insisting that the world keep turning our way" By Willie Nelson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TD_pSeNelU Poetic Early Morning 2 nd November 2014, Sunday: Akash Inn, Shimoga Woke up at 4:30 am. Felt fresh, in spite of previous day’s long journey and late night party. But, I swear, would have felt terrible if I had to go to work- all in the mind! We were on our bikes by 5: 30 am. Still it was dark. Apart from a few brisk walking-health conscious uncles and aunties, hoping to postpone their tryst with destiny, the streets were empty. For a...

Ragging: When My Heart Skipped A Few Beats!

Image
Short Story Since many of our friends felt sad and traumatized by the true, sad ragging event I have described in my short story, I have decided to share one of my sweet memories of that period. Yes, what you are envisaging is correct, sweet memories can’t be without a girl. I am sure guys, the incident would make you feel jealous of me. This happened when I was in GMKMC- year 1991. I was hardly a week old in that college. Had been undergoing many depressing ragging events at the Hostel. As it happens in a typical masala movie, those sad scenes followed by this romantic incident. Even after 23 years, while writing this, I could feel  butterflies in my stomach. Fortunately, in the college campus – Ponni supermarket campus- seniors had to maintain certain decorum, ragging cannot go beyond boundaries. The incident took place on a monsoon day. Weather was fantastic. Just stopped raining. Everything looked so fresh and clean. Gentle breeze was blowing across, soothing e...

"What we all want in life,  to travel,   fall in love and be happy"   Sorry for the long hiatus. I was busy for some days and lazy on the remaining. Idleness is an enjoyable disease to indulge in. Escaped from that beautiful beast just before addiction sets in. Bikomaniacs Goa Trip Part-3 October 31 st 2014, 9 am. Chennai- Bangalore: Heavenly Surreal Journey My trance like state at the Yelagiri foothills was brought down to reality by a loud honking passer-by truck. Kick started my stallion and I was trotting on the blissful empty six lane highway. Winter sun was still lazy, slowly jogging behind me. And we both were sluggish and chasing my shadow till noon. Post noon we became brisk and let the shadow behind – chasing us! When you are on a long drive, you tend to have more time for yourself which is so difficult to get, in the fast lane- cit...

Please don’t have New Year Resolutions???!!!

Image
New Year celebrations are growing bigger , wider and wilder - number of people revelling are going up- every year. Social media plays a significant role in it. Everyone is directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously pressurised to do something on a New Year eve. You are forced to celebrate and brag a few snaps on social media. Nowadays every hotel, resort, club and even residential apartments have New Year celebration parties. The mad rush is such that, your seat is not guaranteed unless otherwise you book it well in advance. Please don’t misunderstand my tone. I too like the concept of welcoming a new year – with red carpet- with so much of joy and energy- eagerly waiting for the clock to touch MN 12; bursting out wildly with loud and bright fire crackers ...of course life is a celebration! New Year carnival is a mark of first day in a year according to Gregorian or Christian calendar. And it is also celebrated as the feast of circumcision of Chris in accordan...

At Yelagiri Foothills Fast, on a rough road riding High, through the mountains climbing twisting, turning further from my home. Young, like a new moon rising Fierce, through the rain and lightning Wandering out into this great unknown. And I don't want no one to cry. But, tell 'em if I don't survive I was born free! I was born free I was born free, born free From Kid Rock "Born Free" album. Few important things I forgot to tell you in part -1. We had difficult time in finalizing the itinerary. There are three different routes to Goa from Tamilnadu. Route 1: Bangalore- Mangalore – Udupi- Karwar- Goa: West Coast Road 720 kms   (Bangalore to Mangalore~ 350km +Mangalore to Goa ~370 Kms) Many roadies dream about this scenic west coast Konkan drive. I too had. Tested that route last November by car. Disappointed – if I had to summarize it, in a single word. There was a bad patch of about 40 kms while crossing the western ghat near Manga...

“Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must live” – Charles Bukowski. Normal, routine, monotonous – these words themselves sound and smell of boredom! Taking breaks, deviating from normal routines – rejuvenate.
