An ordinary Indian Cricket Fan’s (emotional) pulambal!
You might ask me, what qualification I have to write about
Indian cricket. Do you think I should have any other qualification other than
just being an ordinary Indian citizen? You are wrong, then. We billion Indians
have every (birth) right to have billion views about cricket!
Ok, if you insist me I will give one more. I was a twelfth
man in our batch-cricket team (who played a significant role in winning
matches-by not playing!).
Fine, let us concentrate on the current boiling affairs.
Like anyone of you, I am also very disappointed with Indian team’s performance,
to be more specific Indian Men Cricket team’s (on field!) performance. However,
this is not the first time we do so, right?
Just say hypothetically, India had won the test series, how
we would have reacted. Dhoni and team mates would have been considered as super
heroes. Since they have lost, you know what would happen to them (stone pelting
etc). The problem is, we are all genetically emotional! We know only extremes.
By doing so, many times we fail to analyze what exactly went wrong.
They say doing post mortem is easy. So let us start (because
it’s easy)…
Before starting this test series, if someone had said India
would lose the test series you would have agreed without a hint of hesitation.
Actually many of us surprised with the result of first two test matches. Those
were wonderful performances, considering very young team without any major
established test players. That gave us great expectations and we all started
dreaming about test series win.
After two test matches India was up with 1-0, and ended the
series with 3-1.Losing test match is not the end of the world and winning and
losing is part and parcel of game. But the manner, by which they have lost the
final two test matches, definitely would have hurt many- meek surrender.
What went wrong? (Expert analysis!!!)
1. As Stephen Fleming said every test captaincy has a life-span of 3-5 years. Dhoni had crossed that magical number long ago.
He is not pro active, waits for the opposition to make mistakes.
This is crystal clear, in all forms of cricket he plays.
He runs out of ideas, does not have creativity to think out of the box. Greg Chappell was correct in naming him as “absent minded professor”.

In the third test he went with 4 bowlers with one extra
batter which was completely wrong, in my opinion.
He persisted too long with nonperforming Mohammed Shami and
chose Gowtam as a third opener. Did not give enough chances to bench warmers.
What he thinks about Binny, God only knows. (not to mention ,would have praised
if those decisions were correct!)
2. Bowlers fitness level was very poor. Probably they have been
playing too much of cricket without enough rest, thanks to IPL.
3. Missing catches. More than missing batsmen Sachin,
Rahul,we missed good slip fielders Sachin, Rahul and VVS Laxman.
4. Awfully, all the batsmen (bowlers, fielders and coachers
too!) are out of form.
5. Psychologist. If psychologist had counselled Indian
players he would have got depressed, obviously!
May be sending girlfriends (even for married one, not wife
though!) with players would be a better idea! ( to boost their psychology)
6. Vasthu . Last but not the least, I have been told by a
reliable source that Dhoni’s house was not built with proper vasthu, and one
Guruji has suggested some modifications. And the same
Guruji suggested Kohli’s girlfriend’s name to be changed as Anushka Sharam!
So, my dear friends don’t worry every feeling is temporary.
Hope, India would do well in Australia (with that Guruji’s
help), end of this year.
